Copyright Statement

All of the house plans on thecroquis-houseplans.com are protected under the United States copyright laws and international treaty provisions. Reproduction of the plans or illustrations in any way is strictly prohibited.

1. HOME PLANS ARE COPYRIGHTED!-Just like books, movies and songs, home plans receive protection under the federal copyright laws. The copyright laws prevent anyone, other than the copyright owner, from reproducing, modifying or reusing the plans or design without written permission of the copyright owner.

2. DO NOT COPY DESIGNS OR FLOOR PLANS FROM ANY PUBLICATION, ELECTRONIC MEDIA OR EXISTING HOME-It is illegal to copy home designs found in a plan book, CD-ROM or on the Internet. It is a common misunderstanding that making changes to or redrawing a plan found in a plan book is permissible. It is not. The right to modify plans is one of the exclusive rights of copyright. It is also illegal to copy or redraw a constructed home that is protected by copyright, even if you have never seen the plans for the home. If you find a plan that you like, you must purchase a set of plans from an authorized source.

3. DO NOT USE PLANS TO BUILD MORE THAN ONE HOUSE-The original purchaser of house plans is typically licensed to build a single home from the plans. Building more than one home from the plans without permission is an infringement of the home designer’s copyright. Unless otherwise specified, you should assume that construction sets typically include 5 to 10 sets. The purchase of a multiple set package of plans is for the construction of a single home only. The purchase of additional sets of plans does not give you the right to construct more than one home.

4. HOUSE PLANS IN THE FORM OF BLUEPRINTS OR BLACKLINES CANNOT BE COPIED OR REPRODUCED-Plans, blueprints or black lines cannot be copied or reproduced without the prior written consent of the copyright owner. If additional sets are required for estimating or construction, please contact the home designer for additional sets at a nominal cost. Copy shops and blueprinters are prohibited from making copies of these plans.

5. HOUSE PLANS IN THE FORM OF BLUEPRINTS OR BLACKLINES CANNOT BE REDRAWN-Plans cannot be modified or redrawn without first obtaining the copyright owner’s permission. With your purchase of plans, you are licensed to make non-structural changes by “red-lining” the purchased plans. If you need to make structural changes or need to redraw the plans for any reason, you must purchase a reproducible set of plans (see topic 6) which includes a license to modify plans. Blueprints do not come with a license to make structural changes or to redraw the plans. You may not reuse or sell the modified design.

6. REPRODUCIBLE HOME PLANS-Reproducible plans (for example sepias, mylars, CAD files and vellums) come with a license to make modifications to the plans. Once modified, the plans can be taken to a local copy shop or blueprinter to a make up to 10 copies of the plans to use in the construction of a single home. Only one home can be constructed from any single purchased set of reproducible plans either in original form or as modified.

7. MODIFIED DESIGNS CANNOT BE REUSED-Even if you are licensed to make modifications to a copyrighted design, the modified design is not free from the original designer’s copyright. The sale or reuse of the modified design is prohibited. Also, be aware that any modification to plans relieves the designer from liability for design defects and voids all warranties expressed or implied.

8. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGMENT?-Any party who participates in a copyright violation may be responsible, including the purchaser, designers, architects, engineers, drafters, homeowners, builders, contractors, sub-contractors, copy shops, blueprinters, developers and real estate agencies. It does not matter whether or not the individual knows that a violation is being committed. You’ve heard it before: Ignorance of the law is not a valid defense, refuse to be a party to any illicit copying or use of designs, derivative works, prints, design features or homes.

9. PLEASE RESPECT HOME DESIGN COPYRIGHTS-In the event of any suspected violation of a copyright, or if there is any uncertainty about the plans purchased, the publisher, architect, or designer should be contacted before proceeding. Awards are sometimes offered for information about home design copyright infringement.

10. PENALTIES FOR INFRINGMENT- Penalties for violating a copyright may be very severe. The responsible parties are required to pay actual damages caused by infringement (which may be substantial), plus any profits made by the infringer commissions to include all profits and from the sale of any home built from an infringing design. The copyright law also allows for the recovery of statutory damages, which may be as high as $150,000 for each infringement. Finally, the infringer may be required to pay legal fees, which often exceed the damages.

It is illegal to make copies from home blueprints.

It is illegal to have plans drawn based in whole or in part on plans presented by thecroquis-houseplans.com, including,  House plans, catalogs, designs, web pages, or marketing literature without having first purchased the plans.

It is illegal to build a home more than once without purchasing additional Construction Licenses  (sets of plans) unless otherwise noted.

It is illegal to rent, lease, loan, give, transfer or sell thecroquis-houseplans.com house plans.  Only the original purchaser has the right to build from the building plans purchased.

Return Policy

All sales on house plans and customization/modifications are final. No refunds or exchanges can be given once your order has started the fulfillment process.

Architects, Engineers, Signatures, Seals, Plan Stamps, and Local Codes

The house plans you are purchasing do not have an architectural or engineering signature, seal and/or stamp. Consult your local building official who can tell you if a review of your plan by a licensed architect or engineer is required prior to submission of a building permit. All plans are designed to meet building codes in effect at the time and place they were drawn. Because of the great differences in geography and climate throughout the United States, Canada and any other country, each country, state, county, and municipality has its own building codes, zone requirements, ordinances, and building regulations. Your plan may need to be modified to comply with local requirements. In addition, you may need to obtain permits or inspections from local governments before and in the course of construction. We authorize the use of the plans on the express condition that you consult a local licensed architect or engineer of your choice prior to beginning construction, and strictly comply with all local building codes, zoning requirements, and other applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, and requirements. Notice: Plans for homes to be built in Nevada USA must be redrawn by a Nevada USA-registered professional. Consult your local building official for more information on this subject.
The house plans NOT includes site plan and all the documents required by the county and government agencies. The client will be responsible to contact a construction professional (Architect or Engineer) to comply with those requirements. Thecroquis-HousePlans.com is not responsible for any aspect related directly or indirectly with the construction of this Houses or Projects.

Designer Plans Use Permit:

The Designer Plans Use Permit gives you legal permission from the Designer to build one home from the house plans you purchased.

Copyright Release:

A copyright release is issued with a PDF File Set and CAD Set. The copyright release is a Limited License Agreement from the Designer allowing you to make changes and copies of the house plan, to build one home. The Limited License Agreement typically needs to be signed and returned to the Designer.

The included Designer Plans Use Permit and Copyright Release are for building one house only. To build more than one house, please contact us for a multi-use building license.

House Plans Sets Printed on Paper

House Plan Sets printed on paper are for obtaining bids only. Stamped "Not for Construction." A contractor cannot legally build from plans marked this way. This is a set of drawings printed on Bond Paper, and comes with a Designer Plans Use Permit.
House Plan Sets are not available with all house models.
Changes to plans should only be made by qualified professionals. TheCroquis-Houseplans.com is not responsible for any changes made to plans by others.

CAD File Set

The CAD File Set is for use by design professionals to make substantial changes to your house plan. The CAD File Set will be delivered on a CD (Compact Disk) that comes with a copyright release.

The included license is for building one house only. To build more than one house, please contact us for a multi-use building license.

CAD File sets are not available with all house plans.

Changes to plans should only be made by qualified professionals. TheCroquis-Houseplans.com is not responsible for any changes made to plans by others.

PDF File Set

The PDF File Set is for making minor changes to your house plans. The PDF File Set will be delivered on a CD (Compact Disk) that comes with a copyright release. A PDF file will also allow you to make additional copies of the plans when you need them as well as print them in different sizes for different people.

The included license is for building one house only. To build more than one house, please contact us for a multi-use building license. PDF File sets are not available with all house plans.

The Croquis

The Croquis will include 2 sheets (A-1 and A-2) and is to be used as a reference for make the construction plans and documents based on the Designers Model Design. The Croquis includes floor plans, elevations. The Croquis will be delivered Printed on Bond Paper. The Croquis of the House will come with a Designer Plans Use Permit and a copyright release.

Changes to plans should only be made by qualified professionals. Thecroquis-Houseplans.com is not responsible for any changes made to plans by others.

The Croquis sets are not available with all house plans.

What’s included with our house plans?

Each set of home plans that we offer will provide you with the necessary information to build the home. Some adjustments to the plans may be necessary in order to comply with your state, county or country building codes. Prior to application for a building permit or the start of actual construction, we strongly advise that you consult your local building official to verify what you will need to submit for your building permit.

Each designer's standard set of plans is unique. To better inform our customers, we have published in the Plan Content Section on all plan detail pages, what is specifically included with that particular plan. The following list shows what is generally included with each set of plans that we offer.

All plans are drawn at ¼” scale or larger on a standard size 36" x 24" or Larger and typically will include the following Sheets:

A-1 - Floor Plan

A-2 - Elevations/Sections

A-3 - Roof Plan

A-4 - Footings Plan

A-5 - Structure Plans

A-6 - Electric Plan

A-7 - Plumbing Plan

A-8 - Typical Details

Some Houses may include more sheets.

Shipping rates includes insurance to cover damages or item lost during shipping. If your item is lost or damaged during the shipping process; we will send you the same item with no additional cost.

When the client buys any of our plans the client accept all of the terms described above.
